Mr. Reeser's Heroes
My grandparents took me in when I was 10 and raised me. Thank you to both of them as they never expected less than the best that I could do. Times like when I failed Pottery in High School, my grandfather and I had a great talk about how I failed. He inspired me to try harder by simply saying that he was disappointed in me because I didn't really try.
I finally learned in college that when I needed an extra little motivation, all I had to do was call home. I never heard "Hi. How are you?" from my grandfather. I ALWAYS heard, "Hi. How are your grades?" This was all of the motivation that I needed to work that much harder to achieve my life long dream of being a teacher.
It continued as I moved into my career. He would great me with "Hi. Are the kids beating up on you yet?"
My grandmother was always a little quieter but holds just as much respect from me. Whenever I needed the shoulder to lean on and need the warm comfort of home, she was there. She encouraged me to challenge myself as well as everyone that I teach every day.
