My Bio

My name is Ebitimi Igbaseimokumo (Mrs. I).  I am the counselor for grades 6-8 at Martin City K8.  This is my third year as counselor in Grandview School District, and my first year at Martin City K-8.  I am a wife and mom of 3, Gesiye, a graduate of KU, Ilayefa, in College and Binaere, in the 10th grade.  I am originally from Nigeria, but prior to moving to the United States, we lived in England for 10 years and Qatar for 3 years.  I have a Bachelor of Education degree from University of Ibadan, Nigeria and a Masters of Arts degree in Linguistics from University of Leeds, England.  I always wanted to return to a career in Education, and after spending 15 years as a stay-at-home mom, I came to the realization that school counseling is my calling. I returned to school at UMKC to complete a Masters degree in School Counseling and then completed my internship at Belvidere Elementary and was retained there as school counselor.  The best part of my job is listening to kids and being able to support them.

I am excited to be working with with the Middle schoolers at Martin City K-8.  Adolescence is a very challenging part of childhood and I am here to provide support to students and also teach them the coping skills that they need to excel academically, socially and emotionally.   As a parent myself, I understand the challenges of raising middle schoolers and I will work in partnership with you to help your students achieve their goals.
