I am Justin Larmie and serve as one of the assistant principals of Martin City K8 School. I am originally from Southeast Missouri, but have been in the KC metro since 2003. I am married to Crystal, who began her career in education and is now "stay-at-home and home-school mom" to our four amazing children. Caedyn is our oldest, at seventeen. He is a junior this year. Noelle is thirteen and is a 7th grader. Lillian is eleven and started the 5th grade this year. Jack is seven and is in 1st grade.
My educational journey has links to Martin City, as I completed my student teaching here. I began working as an 8th-grade ELA teacher in a nearby, more rural district. Then, I returned to Martin City, where I taught 7th- and 8th-grade ELA for ten years. At that time, I became a District Instructional Coach and served in two elementary schools - Butcher-Greene and Belvidere. I was very excited to return to Martin City to serve, once again, in 6-8. Last year, we set the framework on which we will continue to build. Be prepared to hear the amazing things that are happening at Martin City K8!
I am committed to learning and maintaining personal growth. I completed my undergraduate work at UMKC, earning my BA in Middle School Education. Later, I earned my Master's Degree in Teacher Leadership and Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Administration. In 2018, I completed my doctoral journey, earning an Educational Doctorate in PreK-12 Educational Administration. I continue to put into practice the theories of education I have learned and I continue to grow and develop skills as I support the teachers, students, and families of Martin City.
In my spare time, I enjoy playing the piano, reading, and spending time with my family - usually exploring creeks or trails. We enjoy down time canoeing, floating on the lazy river, and enjoying the natural beauty at Big Cedar, a favorite of ours. We have recently discovered a couple new, favorite vacation spots in Northern Michigan, around Mackinaw City and in Estes Park, Colorado. I also am very involved in our church's music program and am extremely thankful for my church family and its leadership. Finally, as a KC metro resident, I proudly cheer on the KC Royals and Chiefs!
