Mrs. Smith's Bio
Fourth Grade Rocks! I am Karla Smith, Fourth Grade Teacher. My number one goal is to ensure that my students reach their goals. I started my career as a 4th and 5th grade teacher in the St. Louis County area. I worked there for 14 years before moving to the Kansas City Area. After settling in on this side of the state, I became a reading/math para at Martin City. The following year, I became a fifth grade teacher here. After 3 years of teaching fifth grade, I decided to move to fourth grade. I am happy to say that is where I have been ever since. I love teaching 4th grade aged children. I find them to be inquisitive, funny, energetic, and ready to learn. Fourth grade is such a critical transition year from the primary grades to the intermediate grades. It is a grade that students learn to be independent and organized. It is a grade which allows students to soar in their learning. The foundations were built in the younger grades and now students build their academic futures. I believe that my students will be successful, and I am here to help them attain that success in every way.
