Martin City Title I Plan

Martin City is a Title 1 school. What is Title 1? Title I is the major component of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) and the largest federal assistance program for our nation’s schools. The goal of Title I is a higher quality of education for every child. The program serves millions of children in elementary and secondary schools each year. The Martin City Title I Plan is available to the LEA, parents and the public.

Fifth graders build Transcontinental Railroad

The Marin City 5th graders participated in a hands-on simulation of the historic construction of the Transcontinental Railroad in 1865. After randomly selecting a company to work for, the Union Pacific Railroad Company or the Central Pacific Railroad Company, the teams planned out how they would work as a team.

FOCUS Students Become Finalist in Battle of the Brains Competition

Student’s in CAIR’s Focus Program got some big news! The CEO of Burns and McDonnell, reps from Science City and Fox 4 News showed up to class Thursday morning to reveal they were finalists in the Burns and McDonnell Battle of the Brains competition!

We need your help! Our Grandview Focus students in 4th and 5th grade are finalists in the Burns and McDonnell Battle of the Brains Contest! The competition is one of Kansas City’s favorite K-12 competitions for science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

Accidental Sweet Potato Harvest

Last spring first graders planted sweet potatoes in the Martin City garden. Not even knowing that the sweet potatoes were there, this years first graders found them while prepping the gardens for winter.

Riding to school in a fire truck

Fourth grade student Amaris Dyke received a ride to school in a fire truck for winning first place in the Fire Prevention Week Poster Contest. Second place went to fourth grader Eric Vesques and third place to fourth grader Amora Othman.
All three winners are invited to the Grandview City Alderman's meeting to be recognized by the Mayor and Alderman on Tuesday, October 24th at 7pm and all will receive a framed certificate and Junior Fire Marshall T-shirt.
