Welcome Students and Parents

Hello everyone,

I would like to welcome you to the 8th grade English Language Arts educational experience at Martin City Middle School.  I consider my class an experience because I have strong expectations that involve students learning and highly sharing in the learning process by consistently engaging students. Nelson Mandela states, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." This statement is very true.  As an educational professional, I believe in the power of education and the ability to use education as a tool for creating a better life.

In 1994, after graduating from the illustrious-Grambling State University, I started my teaching career in my home state, Louisiana. I taught for a year and a half in my home parish, Iberville Parish. After strong consideration and assistance from a college friend, I moved to Missouri and thus continued my teaching career.

I am a proud Louisianan, a proud mother, and a proud educator.  I have one daughter and a huge immediate and extended family. I love educating children and I love assisting my students in achieving their dreams as the result of a strong foundational education.

Since my first classroom teaching assignment, my personal goal remains to improve classroom instruction and advocate and implement social justice for all students.  I believe in everyone's right to an effective public education.  Therefore, it is my personal goal to ensure your student receives a great educational process.

I believe all students can learn and grow academically.  It is important that we all work as a team to ensure your student's success.
