Summer Newsletter

June-August 2020

Martin City K-8 School

Greetings Bulldog students, families and friends,

Hello!  I hope your summer has been healthy, safe, and enjoyable.  We sure are excited to hear about what you have been doing!  We will be welcoming many old and new friends back very soon!  Mr. Leech, Mrs. Green, Mrs. Stifter and I will be back in the office on July 22, 2020. Let us know if we can assist you with anything.

We are under special and considerable planning into the special and unique return for our students.  It was an unprecedented closing to the school year and we wish to make the beginning of the new school year as easy and remarkable as possible.  As the local governing officials, health department, and our own district administrators depict and create the opening plans, I will update the website and our social media outlets to keep you well informed.

Please remember all students must be enrolled.  This year enrollment will be entirely online for your convenience.  Please be advised residency approval and address verification as well as shot records will still be mandatory.  Please call the office if you have any questions or concerns.  THANKS!

Exciting news!!!

We have some new staff members as well as some movement within the building to share!  In 1st grade, Mrs. Heidi Burns has joined the team.  Our 3rd grade welcomes Ms. Kelly Miller from Belvidere and Mrs. Karlin Kramer.  Mrs. Sherri Clark has moved up to 5th grade and her new teammates are Mrs. Dawn Frey and Miss Taylor Williams.  We also wish to welcome a new PE Coach, Mr. Joshua Clausen.  Joining us in the middle school, Mrs. Delaina Ellis from 5th grade is moving to 8th grade math and Mrs. Yvette Sabur is joining us from Belvidere to teach 6th grade science.  Mrs. Alyssa Knox is our new middle school counselor and Miss Erin Grinsley is our new special education teacher for the middle school. Please join me in welcoming all of them! We look forward to an inspiring year of learning!

Great News! Martin City School is partnering with Red Bridge United Methodist Church to provide food assistance throughout the month of July.  Food boxes will be available for pickup in the school parking lot from 9:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m. each Tuesday and Thursday throughout the month.

The dates for pickup are July 2nd, 7th, 9th, 14th, 16th, 21st, 23rd, 28th, and 30th from 9:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m.  Volunteers will be masked and will follow the social distancing and sanitation procedures recommended by the Health Department.  The food boxes will be given out on a first come, first serve basis and we will shut down once the boxes are all handed out or 11:30 a.m. whichever happens first.

Thank you Red Bridge United Methodist Church for your assistance!

Mark your calendars!
